Summary
On Wednesday, April 13, an engaged and lively audience of about 30 gathered at the Chopin Theatre to celebrate Asymptote's fifth anniversary and the diverse offerings of translators in Chicago. Joining us were translators and writers Nathanaël (also an Asymptote contributor), Kolin Jordan, Rey Andujar, and Jason Grunebaum. Grunebaum and Nathanaël read from some of their most recent works and participated in a fascinating joint Q&A. Kolin Jordan and Rey Andujar of 7Vientos performed a translation in three parts, with Jordan reading from is translation of Andujar's Saturnalia as Rey interspersed the reading with a movement-based performance. Following Jordan and Andujar the audience and speakers adjourned to the lobby of the theater where the folks at the Chopin provided refreshments.
